The Telstra Assistance Fund is offering equipment packages to help disaster-affected sports and community clubs get back on their feet and stage an almighty comeback in 2011. More than $1 million in equipment grants will be made available to clubs across QLD, VIC and NSW that were devastated by the floods and cyclone earlier this year. TAF grant applications are now open and are available to disaster-affected NRL, AFL, Netball, SLS, Dance and music clubs and community groups. Eligibility Criteria and Terms & Conditions

Which sporting clubs and community groups are eligible?

If your sporting club or community group falls into one of the categories below, you may be eligible to apply:

AFL
Any Australian Football club on the AFL's list of affiliated clubs (as verified by the relevant State or Territory AFL affiliate) is eligible to submit an application.

Rugby League
All rugby league clubs affiliated to: Northern Territory Rugby League (NTRL), New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL), Country Rugby League of New South Wales (CRL), Victorian Rugby League (VRL), Queensland Rugby League (QRL), South Australian Rugby League (SARL) and Western Australian Rugby League (WARL) are eligible to apply.

Surf Life Saving
All surf life saving clubs and services (affiliated with SLSA) are eligible to apply.

Netball
All netball clubs and / or associations affiliated with: Netball QLD, Netball NSW, Netball Victoria, Netball Tasmania, Netball ACT, Netball SA, Netball NT, and Netball WA are eligible to apply

Music
All not-for-profit community groups with a musical focus and operating within a community to pursue a common cause or interest for the good of the community. It may include public schools, church groups, youth groups and charities. You will be ineligible to enter if you are a private school or a business.

Dance
All not-for-profit community groups with a dance focus and operating within a community to pursue a common cause or interest for the good of the community. It may include public schools, church groups, youth groups and charities. You will be ineligible to enter if you are a private school, or a business.

General Conditions

• Grants will be distributed in the form of equipment only ("Equipment Grants"), as listed in the approved equipment bundles for each sport, dance or music club. Equipment Grants will not be provided in the form of cash.
• Clubs are eligible for one Equipment Grant per code or activity only, and can state their choice in order of preference on the application form.
• Clubs that service more than one community or sporting group can apply for one Equipment Grant per code. For example, a sporting club that supports AFL and Netball can apply for one AFL grant and one Netball grant.
• We may not be able to fulfil your first preference.
• Applications will be assessed by a review committee which has been convened for each individual sport and community group, in association with Telstra.
• The review committee will determine successful applications and its decision is final.
• Clubs that have previously received funding from the Telstra Assistance Fund are eligible to apply again.

Priority Assistance

• In 2011, TAF Equipment Grants will be prioritised according to the following criteria:
  1. Those eligible clubs and groups located in Natural Disaster Areas in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria;
  2. Within each Natural Disaster Area, those eligible clubs and groups which have lost equipment as a result of the natural disasters as determined by the review committee.

• Natural Disaster Areas are those areas determined by the relevant State Government as being adversely affected by a natural disaster since 1 January 2011 and specifically include areas affected by floods or cyclones.

• Other clubs, not affected by the natural disasters but which still qualify as an eligible club may be considered for any remaining equipment grants after the priority groups and clubs requests have been fulfilled.

Conditions of assistance

• Applications must be submitted online at www.ideasforgood.com.au/taf
• The application must be completed in full.
• All applications become the property of the appropriate sporting, dance and music agencies that make up review committee and Telstra.
• The appropriate sporting body or dance and music agencies that make up the review committee and Telstra reserve the right to display or publicise all applications and results.
• Telstra and the review committee accept no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete or misdirected applications.
• Only one application can be submitted per club or in the case of Joint Clubs, one application per code per club
• Application must be submitted by an authorised and nominated club representative.
• The review committee and/or Telstra may reject any application at their absolute discretion.
• Equipment provided will be from the nominated suppliers only.
• The club MUST notify Telstra of any changes to the delivery address, no later than 31 July 2011
• Clubs will be charged for the additional delivery charges where they have provided an incomplete or incorrect address, where this involves more than one delivery attempt.
• Equipment must be kept for a minimum of two years and cannot be on-sold during this period or used for the purposes of promotional prizes or giveaways.
